One of the assumed strengths of the 2017 UGA football team will be its Linebacker corps. The surprise return of Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy gives Georgia something they’ve lacked for close to a decade now: Senior leadership. Along with Junior Roquan Smith, it is a group that is expected to terrorize backfields while sheriffing sideline to sideline.

Smith will be limited for most of Spring ball, and while the rest of the group is extremely talented, they are young. Except for D’Andre Walker. The 6-3, 225lb Junior Linebacker has the frame and length to disrupt sideline to sideline, and the strength to plug lanes inside. Walker has an NFL type body, but not the résumé to go with it. When Carter and Ballemy go to the NFL after this year, Walker will be the leader of the group. This Spring is when he needs to show it.
