  1. Rio Ruiz Is Close to Ready

Adonis Garcia is expected to at least begin the season as the Braves starting third baseman but if he were to struggle he will have plenty of competition if Ruiz continues on his current pace. Rio Ruiz has impressed this spring training and is pushing for a roster spot that doesn’t exist.

Ruiz may not make the opening day roster but their seems to be a buzz among fans and the front office that Ruiz is getting close to being ready for the Major Leagues. If that rumor is true than having an infield of Ruiz- Dansby Swanson- Brandon Phillips- and Freddie Freeman certainly would make the Braves younger and more exciting.

The one problem for Ruiz has been a high strike out rate that he needs to prove he can control. If he is unable to continue to produce once he is optioned back to the minor leagues than he at least will have to show a big decline in his strike out rate.

Rio Ruiz is going to have to keep a solid outlook when he is optioned to the minor leagues and play his way onto a roster and into a starting position. There are few Braves fans who do not hope that Rio Ruiz will soon be the Braves starting third baseman this season.
