The Atlanta Braves have had, throughout its history, many great players. The following five players from the 1980s are underappreciated by most fans and experts.

1. CF- Brett Butler

Brett Butler only played with the Atlanta Braves for three seasons (81-83). And frankly, his best seasons weren’t even with the Braves. That is why, however, he is listed here. The addition of the young fleet-footed Butler in 1981 allowed Dale Murphy to ease up in the field and focus at the plate.

In 1983, Butler hit .281 with 39 stolen bases, while manning Center Field for the sometimes hapless Braves. After his stint in Atlanta, he went on to a career batting average of .290 over 17 years in MLB. He topped .300 five times. If he wasn’t underappreciated by fans, he certainly was by the Front Office.
