The Atlanta Braves have had, throughout its history, many great players. The following five players from the 1980s are underappreciated by most fans and experts.

First baseman Chris Chambliss is most widely known for his time with the World Series winning New York Yankees in the 1970s. But his contributions to the Atlanta Braves shouldn’t be forgotten or overlooked. Chambliss was with the Braves for six season (1980-86). During his stint there he averaged .272 at the plate with 80 HRs and 366 RBI.

It could also be said, that until Fred McGriff came along later in the 1990s, Chambliss was the best 1B the Braves had for over 2 decades.
