Atlanta Braves: Starting Lineup Season Projections
By Kit Anderson
- Dansby Swanson
Swanson may be the biggest question mark in the Braves lineup considering his ability and measuring them against fan expectations. Swanson looks to be a franchise player but in fairness so did a number of other Braves prospects who are now firmly in the past.
Dansby is going to be a good shortstop but fans need to be careful about expecting too much for Swanson early on this season. Hitting behind Inciarte and ahead of Freeman will likely mean Swanson is going to see a lot of good pitches to hit. Dansby Swanson is a key part of the Braves future and while there will be growing pains the shortstop is ready for the Major Leagues.
Projected Statline- .275 Average-.323 OBP-50 Runs scored-43 RBI-12 Stolen Bases-14 Homers
Swanson is a lot like Inciarte in the fact that he does a lot of things well but isn’t going to be elite in one stat category. His power may be the hardest factor to predict considering he has flashed a lot of power for stretches and seemed to be a singles hitter in others.
He is a good base runner with above average awareness and will steal some bases based on that and not on pure speed. As he continues to grow Swanson could soon become the face of the Braves franchise.
