The Atlanta Braves won their 4th straight game on Sunday in a blowout win over the San Diego Padres. Opening a new ballpark against San Diego for four straight games was a good decision.

The Atlanta Braves won their 4th game straight against the Padres on Sunday afternoon knocking them off 9-2. Bartolo Colon pitched brilliantly going seven strong while limiting the Padres to one run on a lone hit.

The offense had a slow start going without a hit for four innings before Brandon Phillips started a rally that turned into a blowout win in the later innings. Ender Inciarte hit his fourth homer of the year as well in the victory surpassing his total from all of last season.

His fourth homer of the year is already more than the three he hit in a full year last season. Inciarte and Brandon Phillips both heating up have been key in the Braves win streak. Anytime that a Braves pitcher is able to pitch more than five innings and the offense is healthy you have to like the Braves chances at home.

On the road the Braves have struggled early this season and are going to have to turn around their play on the road if they hope to become surprise contenders. While excuses are never admissible in losses facts are and the fact that the Braves had to face the Mets three aces at their best while facing some very tough weather conditions could explain their early struggles.

Next: Braves Previewing the lineup

The lineup is producing at the rate it was at the end of last season and is only going to get better when Matt Kemp is able to get healthy. The Braves roster is beginning to look like one that could not only play .500 this season but be surprise contenders down the stretch this summer if the pitching can continue to get deep into games.
