The Atlanta Braves halted their longest losing streak of the season jumping on the Mets early and cruising behind Julio Teheran. The Braves winning on the road has been a rare occurrence and will hopefully spell change in the Braves road record.

The Atlanta Braves broke their losing streak knocking off the Mets 8-2 on Wednesday night behind Julio Teheran. Teheran pitched well overall but struggled walking hitters, walking four in total in his start a worrisome trend for a pitcher that historically doesn’t walk many.

Another bright spot of the win was Matt Wisler coming out of the pen in relief and pitching two spotless innings. The scoreless outing should do a lot to boost Wisler’s confidence and could help him regain another shot in the rotation if he can continue his success in AAA.

The offense clicking and piling up five runs before the Mets ever got to the plate was another headline of the game and hopefully indicative of the offense catching fire. The lineup has been anemic at best at scoring runs and is going to have to pick it up to support a veteran rotation if they hope to get back to .500.

Calling the a Braves a contender may not be the right word just yet but they have shown in the early weeks of the season they are capable of winning games if they can get the offense and pitching to roll at the same time.

They have the potential to be a very streak team that is going to win a lot of close games. The bullpen has been shaky at times but is improving and has good back end arms that will hold the lead if they are used correctly.

Poor managing and poor hitting have been the Braves problem in the early going this season at least one of those things are going to have to change if the Braves want to pull themselves back to .500.
