The Atlanta Braves have been a streaky team both in record and offensively. One player who has consistently struggled has been Emilio Bonifacio it is time for the Braves to move on from Bonifacio.

The Atlanta Braves have made their rebuilt roster by being unafraid to make trades and cut players even if it was not a popular with fans. The one head scratching exception to that has been Emilio Bonifacio.

Continuing to bring Bonifacio back on one year deals has become a trend for the Braves an odd one considering Bonifacio’s eroding skills both defensively and at the plate. He has been unable to get anything going at the plate this season after being the favorite pinch hitter early in the season.

It is time to finally cut ties with the journey utility player for good with Lane Adams and Jace Peterson both able to provide better production and the ability to pinch run as needed. Cutting Bonifacio all-together may be the best decision and give his spot to Ryan Howard to put some pop off the Braves bench late.

While Lane Adams and Ryan Howard may not scare anyone at this point in their careers they are both big upgrades and capable of hitting pinch run homers with some regularity. Ryan Howard put together a poor overall season but hit well after the break last season well enough to bump Bonifacio off the bench in his favor.

Emilio Bonifacio has had a decent career but one that has very obviously been coming to an end for some time now. The Braves need to make the right decision and replace him sooner rather than later.

Then bench is improving but will remain a weakness for the Braves until they decide it is time to move on from Bonifacio and focus on adding a legitimate pinch hitting option.
