Atlanta Braves: Keep the Faith Braves Nation! Keep the Faith!
By W. M. Lawson
The Atlanta Braves have stumbled out the gate, and it doesn’t look to get better soon. Consequently, fans have demurred in recent days.
Our beloved Atlanta Braves are struggling. No doubt about it. No way to obfuscate or prevaricate away the problems. Pitching is awful. SunTrust Park is a crackerjack box that features a launching pad at home plate, apparently. Yes, our Braves have the worst record in Major League Baseball.
Let’s get this out the way. This article will not be an overtly or overly analytical piece. It will, in fact, be an entreaty, of sorts. A fanboy fan call, if you will.
Yes, the Braves are not good. Because of the aforementioned and glaring problems, the Braves are 2-8 in their last 10 games. Trust me when I say, that is not fun to write about. It can be daunting trying to write something about a team that is struggling like this one.
I mean…you can write stuff, but it is all negative, and who wants to write that…or read that? This writer doesn’t. So, what’s the point here?

The point is that what is going on in the Atlanta Braves’ franchise is very much like the process of building a house. If you’ve ever done that, you know that is an arduous, tedious, and multi-faceted process.
It is kind of like a home buyer coming in and finding great location. That great location has a current home built on that spot. That existing edifice is definitely a beautiful structure with lots of history. A Beautiful history. But because of prior management, it had become dis-repaired and somewhat dilapidated. It still has value, and some beautifully historic features, but it needed work.
So, after much conversation, budgeting, and decision making, the new owners/management decide it is better to tear down the old structure and start over.
That is where we are with the Braves. They are in the process of building the new structure. The new house is not inhabitable yet. It appears some days that they are behind schedule. There are some features that, while temporary, are an eye-sore for the neighborhood.
The final verdict will come when this new house is completed and fans are told to move in. If that new house is deemed to have not been worth the total destruction of the old house, this current management may never be given a construction job again.
So, buck up, Braves Nation! It isn’t pretty now, but construction never is. It is a dirty business, both literally and metaphorically. I have never met anyone in that business who is clean.

But it could still wind up being pretty and comfortable. We just have to wait and see. And watch with patience, amazement, and concern. And love, Braves Nation! Watch with love.
