The Atlanta Braves may have won their third straight but the game came at a cost with Freddie Freeman leaving due to injury. The Braves are likely to be without Freeman for a number of weeks.

The Atlanta Braves had a hotly contested game on Wednesday night with it culminating into two benches clearing incidents. It didn’t help matters that the Blue Jays hit yet another batter earlier in the game and that batter happened to be the Braves best player Freddie Freeman.

Freeman took a 94-MPH fastball in the wrist and early reports do not sound promising about the injury. X-rays were inconclusive and Freeman is set to undergo more tests today. Early reports make it seem likely that Freeman has a broken wrist and will miss an extended period of time. If that is the case the surging Braves are in trouble and would be without their best hitter for a number of weeks.

Hitting Freeman may have been an accident but the number of hit batsmen that the Braves have had are inexcusable as are the showy displays that Kevin Pillar and Jose Bautista have found the need to put on in their losing effort.

The unwritten rules of the game would seem to demand some type of action from Julio Teheran today the number of batters hit alone is inexcusable and when it results in injuring your team’s best player retaliation is likely whether it was an accident or not.

While hurting another player should never be on the table giving the Jays a reminder that they need to use better control both over their pitches and emotions would not be a bad sign to send in the final game of a series the Braves have already clinched.

Tonight’s game will rap up a four game series that the Braves will be looking to sweep in Atlanta. Going into the weekend with some momentum is important considering that the Washington Nationals are coming to town.
