The Atlanta Braves have a new problem on their hand and that is having more hitting talent than spots in the lineup. Matt Adams has done nothing but hit since join the team.

Trading for Matt Adams may have been one of the biggest steals in Atlanta Braves recent history. Adding the big first baseman to replace Freeman was met with varying degrees of indifference that have since changed to make Adams a fan favorite.

Adams has been so good since joining the Braves that Freddie Freeman the face of the Braves is attempting a position change to third base. While on one hand if Freeman was able to move to third base it would fill a hole and make the Braves lineup complete the timing could not be worse.

Considering the severity of the injury that Freeman has had to deal with adding a position change to his early comeback bid seems a bit premature. Adams is a very good hitter and an above average first baseman while there is some reason to think that Adams could fall off a bit there is nothing fluky about the hitting tirade that Adams has put together after getting into the best shape of his life.

Keeping Matt Adams in the lineup will seem to  rest on Freeman’s ability to switch to third. If that fails Adams will likely be traded to a team where he can earn a deserved starting role. The Yankees could be one such team that would looks to add Adam’s bat to the lineup.

If the Braves are unable to keep his bat in the lineup it will be interesting to see how big of a return the Braves could get for Adams. There is little doubt that if the Braves decide to part with Adams the return will be substantial and not part of a sell off.
