The Atlanta Braves may not be looking to sell or buy at the break but there is one player on their roster that they should move regardless of the return value. Jaime Garcia should be traded before the deadline.

Looking at the Atlanta Braves’ roster there are few trade pieces that the Braves have nothing to lose by dealing. Jaime Garcia is the exception to that with the veteran starter giving the Braves replaceable innings and the Braves will not be looking to resign Garcia when he becomes a free agent at the end of the season.

Dealing Garcia for any return that the Braves could possibly benefit from is in the best interest of the team short and long term. It would allow one of the young arms a chance to prove themselves or it could be a space opened if the Braves acquire one of the starters they are rumored to be targeting in the trade market.

The Braves have been tied to both Sonny Gray and Chris Archer in recent months the problem is that they are just one of many teams targeting the starters. Both starters are elite at their best and will likely be near the ceiling of the Braves’ price range.

After missing on an opportunity to get Chris Sale this past off-season and seeing what they have missed with the Red Sox it would not be surprising at all to see the Braves push their luck and pay for a top starter.

If the Braves do manage to land another starter they would likely be replacing Jaime Garcia or R.A. Dickey barring any injuries. Julio Teheran, Mike Foltynewicz, and Sean Newcomb seem to be locked into their roles for the time being with Teheran attempting to bounce back from struggles that date to the start of the season.
