The Atlanta Hawks have chosen to rebuild their roster and focus on a youth movement. In today’s current NBA the decision is the right one to make in a League ruled by the Warriors and Lebron James.

For the Atlanta Hawks fans that missed it the Warriors have not only kept their roster together this off-season but gotten stronger adding better bench pieces. On a team that is already clearly the best in the league it is hard to see any way past them.

That is assuming the Hawks were making a push for the playoffs and were able to somehow muscle their way past Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavs. Aside from the Boston Celtics there doesn’t seem to be any clear challenger to the Cavs in a very weak Eastern conference.

Deciding to focus on youth and wait for Lebron to age and the Warriors to fall apart is a wise decision that will set the Hawks up to compete down the road. While tapping out is never a popular move for a team it is the right move for every team in the East aside from the Wizards or Celtics who could potentially challenge the Cavs.

The Warriors have changed the landscape of the NBA as the best super team ever put together. There are few teams that have hope of winning a game against them much less challenging them in a seven game series. The Hawks decision to prepare for two or three years down the road when the super team begins to fall apart or Lebron finally slows down is the right one.

Despite putting their playoff streak in jeopardy it is the correct decision especially when you consider how many championships the Hawks have won in those ten consecutive playoff appearances in an age in the NBA where only triple-doubles and championships matter the Hawks are focusing on building a team of the future one that in the years to come can bring a championship to Atlanta.
