Atlanta Braves: Trade Deadline Players to Target Now
By Kit Anderson
- Jurickson Profar
In an age of instant gratification teams tend to give up on prospects far too soon. Profar is an example of that Profar as gone from the second coming in Texas to the Rangers simply wanting to rid themselves of him for what they can get.
Adding Profar for the low cost that he would likely be gotten for is a great idea and a buy low move for the Braves that they are rumored to be looking at. If the Braves add Profar it would likely mean they would need to cut or clear a spot on the bench.
It would be worth the risk considering the talent that Profar has. Regardless of his struggles his first four seasons he deserves one more shot simply based on his talent and injury struggles. The problem here may be that the Rangers could want more than the Braves are willing to spend on a buy low option like Profar.
Shopping Jaime Garcia and a low ranked prospect to the Rangers could be one potential match for a team that is in need of pitching and could look to bring Garcia back. If the price is reasonable bringing Profar to Atlanta would be a smart move that could just see Profar follow through on the potential that has been heralded for quite some time.
