The Atlanta Hawks are a team that is likely going to be towards the bottom of the East but their recent moves have them headed in the right direction. Shopping for bargains is paying off for the Hawks.

If your an Atlanta Hawks fan you are more than aware that the Hawks are in full rebuild mode. In a League that is dominated by the super team that is the Warriors and the entire East playing for second to Lebron James a rebuild may not be the worst of ideas.

While the rebuild is the direction that the Hawks should be headed in it doesn’t mean that they cannot field a competitive team. Shopping in the bargain aisles the Hawks have added Ersan Ilyasova, Dwayne Dedmon, and Mike Muscala.

None may be star players but they flexible big men who will give the Hawks plenty of combinations to play with this season. With Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard both in different jerseys it would be foolish to think that the Hawks bigs will be as good in the coming season.

What is true though is the fact that the Hawks are adding good bench pieces that are starting to stabilize a roster that could look to compete this year for the 8th seed in the East. It may seem somewhat premature to consider the Hawks having a shot at some type of playoff contention it is more than feasible considering the lack of talent in the East.

Dennis Schroder will have the spotlight solely on him likely this season with him attempting his best Russell Westbrook impression. The question for the Hawks will be how far can an above average bench and Dennis carry the Hawks?

Regardless of the answer the Hawks are making the right decision and continuing to build a watchable team even as they focus on the future of the franchise.
