  1. Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford is slowly starting to be included in the top ten, after a season that saw him hang in the MVP race before his injury he has solidified his spot as a top quarterback in the game. Coming into the NFL his pure ability to throw the ball was incredible a few years of practice later and Stafford’s cannon is arguable the best in the game when healthy.

Since Calvin Johnson has left Stafford has improved every single part of his game. It is a very interesting observation that taking one of the best receivers of the last decade away has made Stafford so much of a better quarterback.

Whether it is the pressure relieved of having to get Johnson the ball or simply maturity and nothing to do with Calvin at all Stafford is set for another great season and will again have his name tossed around in the MVP race.

The former Georgia Bulldog needs to continue his growth this season however, and get the Lions at least one playoff victory. The Lions are improving overall but it is completely on Stafford how far they will go this season on a roster that is going to have to win a lot of shootouts.
