NFL: Quarterback Power Rankings
By Kit Anderson
- Blake Bortles
Blake Bortles was the most puzzling story to me personally of the 2016 NFL season. Maybe an odd storyline to be puzzled by but few quarterbacks in their prime years go from being a solid face of the franchise quarterback to one of the worst starters in the league.
You do not need stats to tell you that last season was bad if you watched one Jaguars game the eye test would have told you all that you needed to know about Bortles. Last is over though and looking at the quarterback Bortles has been collectively ranking him 27th seems to be a safe bet.
There is no reason that Bortles can not overachieve this season. With a stacked roster and an improved coaching staff it is hard to see Bortles not improving at least a bit. Whether or not he can get back to the form he had earlier in his career is yet to be seen. The last report that his throwing motion was quote “Mostly fixed” had to be less than assuring to Jaguar’s fans. Much like Goff this has to be a prove it year for Bortles with a win now culture and a roster built to do just that it is now or never for Bortles.
