Atlanta Braves: Five Moves to Make Before Next Season
By Kit Anderson
- Bring Dansby Swanson Back Up
This may not be the most popular move on this list but it is the right move to make and one that the Braves should make soon. If a player is truly going to be considered a long-term option as a starter than the Braves need to stick with them regardless of struggles.
Swanson struggled badly and hasn’t looked great at Triple-A either so far there is no excuse making and it is becoming worrisome to some degree. There is only one way to find out whether or not Swanson is truly a part of the Braves future long-term and that is to give him at least a full season to prove it.
Brining Swanson back up and letting him start every day sink or swim is the move the Braves need to make and will give them some answers about next season. If the Braves were starting players based on their performance and best chance to win the move would make sense but it has become obvious with the recent moves the Braves are looking towards the future.
Even at worst if Swanson shows no improvement he is a big investment that Braves fans should give more of a chance. After watching Dan Uggla and B.J. or Melvin Upton hit at the Mendoza line they have had plenty of practice with patience.
