Atlanta Braves: Time to Trade Mike Foltynewicz
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Braves have stuck with Mike Foltynewicz long enough it is time to attempt to trade the young right-handed flame thrower. Trading Folty at the seasons end would likely net the Braves a decent return that will give them a start towards next season.
If you have been paying attention to the Atlanta Braves this season then you know that Mike Foltynewicz has at times been the Braves most consistent pitcher. you also know that means little with the major struggles the rotation has had.
Mike Foltynewicz has at times looked to be a solid starter having stretches of dominance that encouraged hope that he would become an ace. In truth his ERA now again sits over 4.00 and he has failed to get complete control over his emotions on the mound.
The maturity of his game has improved but there still appears to be holes in his mental game. Not only that but at twenty-five years old Folty is as close to a finished product as he can be. If there are any improvements they will be marginal at best.
Trading Foltynewicz to the highest bidder this off-season is the Braves best move, it would allow them to add Major League ready talent and opening up a spot in the rotation for a more consistent pitcher.
Whether the Braves will even consider such a move is hard to say. Much like the majority of the fan base Foltynewicz’s velocity has become intoxicating in a League that focuses on flame throwers and home run hitters.

That focus will in turn give Mike more value on the trade market than he likely deserves. Foltynewicz has done enough this season maintain his trade value. With the Braves focusing on becoming a contender next season now is the time for the Braves to cash in and trade Mike Foltynewicz.
