Atlanta Braves: Should Add Jake Arrieta
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Braves pitching rotation is hard to watch right now and in bad need of a top of the rotation starter. One starter that the Braves should look at this off-season is adding Jake Arrieta.
The Atlanta Braves adding Jake Arrieta may seem like a long shot it is possible considering the Braves’ interest in adding Jon Lester, Chris Sale, and Chris Archer over the last two years. The Braves have tried and failed repeatedly to add a top of the rotation starter to their team.
Arrieta would instantly become the best pitcher on the Braves roster and is still in his early thirties. With pitchers aging slower in baseball offering Arrieta a big long term deal is something that the Braves need to do if they are unable to trade for another top starter.
Arrieta struggled early on this season but has gotten on a role as of late and looked like the dominant starter that he has been with the Cubs. The problem for the Braves is that for a team that is supposedly a year away from contention they are in need of a lot of positions.
With young prospects failing to live up to expectations there are a lot of holes in the Braves rotation and roster in general. The biggest problem for the Braves will be if they can fix a pitching rotation that has been inconsistent and hard to watch.
Jake Arrieta is a band-aid not a fix all that will start the Braves in the right direction this off-season. Adding at least two more quality starters is something that the Braves need to do this off-season whether through trades or free-agency.

This off-season should be a busy one if the Braves continue to follow the plan they have mapped out and attempt to compete for postseason.
