The Atlanta Falcons have ruled out their star running back for the second week in a row. Devonta Freeman is still dealing with concussion like symptoms. The injury is becoming a bit more concerning as the season nears.

The Atlanta Falcons made their running back the highest paid back in the NFL rewarding Devonta Freeman with a well deserved contract. The problem as is often the case in the NFL following a big paid day injury has slowed down Freeman who is still in concussion protocol and will miss the next pre-season game.

Concern should still be conservative but growing for Falcon’s fans who are concerned about how long and how much this concussion will affect Freeman. Keeping him out for the rest of the pre-season is something that the Falcons should consider allowing him only to practice if he is cleared during the pre-season.

Concussion’s are one of if not the scariest injury for an athlete in the NFL right now. While it may not be the most painful or gruesome injury the long term affects and how serious they can be is a hot topic of discussion in both the NFL and sports media in general.

Devonta Freeman suffering a concussion at this point before the season has even started is concerning because of the proven affects both long term of concussions and how long it can take to recover from a head injury.

By all accounts the Falcons expect Freeman to miss little time after missing this week’s game but the fact remains that concussions are unpredictable and dangerous.  Falcon’s fans should continue to keep a close eye on Freeman and hope that he will be healthy enough to play in the season opener.

While the Bears on paper should be a win there is no such thing as an easy win in the NFL (unless your playing the Browns) and the Falcons need to be fully healthy and ready to go in week one.
