The Georgia Bulldogs are a single game into the season and already have a quarterback controversy on their hands. After early struggles and exiting with an injury Jacob Eason’s job is in jeopardy.

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Jacob Eason started the night for the Bulldogs and looked off from the start.  His throws were high and errant.  While in fairness there was a fair amount of pressure on Eason he missed throws that a quarterback with his arm talent should have made.

After struggling early Eason’s day got worse on an ill-advised scramble attempt Eason headed out of bounds and was well out of bounds when a App. State player shoved Eason causing his leg to twist.

After initially getting up and walking back on the field Eason sat on the turf and was walked to the locker room and didn’t return. In entered freshman quarterback Jake Fromm. Fromm gave an instant spark to the offense on their way to a 31-10 win. All 31 points were scored with Fromm under center.

The injury to Eason isn’t known yet but all reports seem to indicate that the injury is not very serious. If that proves to be the case and Eason is ready to start by next Saturday now the Bulldogs have the question to face, should he?

Eason has experience under his belt and a cannon for an arm but he did struggle mightily against an underwhelming team. The fact his throws were so poor make it hard not to see the Bulldogs giving Fromm a chance.

Jake Fromm went 10/15 for 143 yards and a score with no turnovers. It is important again to remember the fact that Fromm did this against one of the most underwhelming secondaries that the Bulldogs will see all season.

It is hard to see the Bulldogs not giving Eason a chance to win his job back based simply on three early throws and when you consider the clutch moments that he did have last season. Who will start next week against Notre Dame should become more clear once the extent of Eason’s injury is fully known.
