Atlanta Braves: Should Target Yu Darvish This Off-season
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Braves are badly in need of an ace and two aces are set to hit the market. One of those aces is current Dodger Yu Darvish. The Braves should target both Darvish and Jake Arrieta in hopes of luring at least one of the aces to Atlanta.
The Atlanta Braves pitching staff is in shambles and badly in need of an ace. If there is one question that Julio Teheran has answered this season it is whether or not he belongs in a discussion as his team’s ace.
That answer has been a resounding no and left the Braves needing a lot of pitching this off-season. The first pitcher that they should be looking at is Yu Darvish. Darvish is the second best pitcher slated to hit the free-agent market and will have plenty of suitors and the Braves should be one of them.
While Jake Arrieta should be the Braves goal Yu Darvish is a quality fallback option that would head the Braves rotation. The problem for Darvish has been after shutting down offenses his first few seasons he has struggled with an ERA above four.
Bringing him to Atlanta should be an option only if the Braves do not have to pay Darvish an equal amount of money to the top pitchers in the game. If that was the case the Braves should let another team hope Darvish gets back to the dominant numbers he was putting up early in his MLB career.

Yu Darvish is not a fix-all for the Braves rotation but he would certainly be a step in the right direction and a pitcher that the Braves should look at this off-season.
