Atlanta Falcons: Preview and Prediction for Week One
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Falcons are set to kick-off a new season and have what could prove to be a surprising opponent when they open the season against the Chicago Bears. The Bears will not be starting their rookie quarterback but will opt to go with Mike Glennon
The Atlanta Falcons opening the season against the Chicago Bears instead of the expected Super Bowl rematch. The fact that the season will open against the Bears and not the Patriots may be disappointing but it is also lucky considering the mental strain of starting the season against the Patriots.
Facing the Bears could be surprisingly challenging if everything were to go the Bears way however, on paper this is a team that the Falcons should roll over in week one.
The lack of defensive talent paired with against the best offense in football is going to be a bad match-up that the Falcons will take full advantage of. The only way that the Bears stay in the game is if Matt Ryan turns the ball over or the young defense is not as good as we believe them to be.
Looking at the Bear’s secondary as well it is hard not to imagine another big game coming for Julio Jones. Finding a corner on the Bear’s roster that could match up with Jones is impossible and will likely mean another 100+ yard game for the star receiver.
The Falcons are going to start a bit slow but get rolling quickly in the second half and put the Bears away. Final score prediction, Atlanta Falcons-35 Chicago Bears-13. The game will kick-off Sunday on FOX at 1:00 EST.
