Atlanta Braves: Should They Deal Julio Teheran?

The Atlanta Braves have an interesting decision to make this off-season as to whether or not to move on from Julio Teheran. Teheran has struggled this season badly looking especially bad at the Braves new park.

The Atlanta Braves coming into the season would have considered Julio Teheran their “ace” an overused word to describe a team’s best pitcher. While Teheran is not an ace in the truest sense of the word he was a very good and reliable pitcher headed into the season.

His struggles have forced the Braves to consider making trade moves with Teheran. As we near the off-season Teheran’s name is already being thrown into the rumor mill as a pitcher that could be on the market.

The Braves would be making a big mistake trading Julio Teheran unless the trade would net them a better established pitcher in return. That is unlikely to happen making the decision to keep Teheran the right one.

Selling low on a former star player is never wise especially when you consider the fact that Teheran is still very young and is to good of a pitcher not to bounce back this season.

Julio Teheran has had good seasons consistently and deserves a benefit of a doubt and should be given a chance to rebuild his value.  Giving Teheran that chance could give the Braves a much needed pitcher or give them a much better return.

Either way sticking with Julio Teheran and not moving the young pitcher is the right move for the Braves to make.
