Atlanta Falcons: Blow-out Packers and What That Means
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Falcons blew out the Packers on Sunday night football ending the game with a lot of clock eating and essentially making the complete 4th quarter garbage time.
The Atlanta Falcons beat the 34-23 in what was a blowout before the Packers pulled it to respectability in garbage time. The Falcons claimed this game early in impressive fashion and looked as composed and in control as they did all of last season.
Early runs opened up the passing attack and Julio Jones as predicted jumped on the Packers weak secondary dragging tacklers and helping the Falcons jump out to a big game. Matt Ryan had an average week but didn’t turn the ball over and made the throws that he needed to.
The biggest takeaway from this game should be the fact that the Falcons went out and proved themselves to be the best the NFC has to offer right now. While the Cowboys were getting blown out by Denver Seattle was struggling to handle a Brian Hoyer led offense or put any points on the board.

Factor in that this same Packers team beat the Hawks a week ago and it is hard to make a case that the Falcons are not the best team in the NFC. The Super Bowl collapse story is no longer valid even though it is only week two.
The Falcons last night showed more composure and ability to do their job then at any point last season. They were calm and easily claimed the lead early and mechanically ran out the time playing soft on defense and running the ball down the Packers throat on offense.
Considering the defensive improvement this Falcon’s team could be even better than the one we saw last year. While it is only fair to remember the Falcon’s struggles in week one it is also only fair to point out that the Falcons won and that three weeks from all that will matter is the Falcon’s record and not how they won the game.

Vic Beasley may be out for a few weeks but the Falcon’s defense remains very solid and they will have very winnable games between now and when Beasley returns. The Falcons win in week two was a big one and one that let us know the Falcons are the team to beat in the NFC.
