Georgia Tech: Yellow Jackets Look For A Groove Against Pitt
By W. M. Lawson
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (1-1) host the Pittsburgh Panthers Saturday. Success would mean finding their first groove of the season.
Nobody could have, or would have, predicted the start to this season for Georgia Tech Football. The brutality of the Tennessee result. The brutality of a Category 5 hurricane and them cancelling a game. Yes, the win against JSU was good. But it was like when you are craving a steak, go get a steak, and the steak is just OK. It’s steak, so it’s better than most things. But it didn’t hit that thing that took you there. It has been a halting season. Georgia Tech looks to find a groove Saturday.
Pitt (1-2) comes into Atlanta with bandages. Both physical and emotional. They’ve played 2 teams in the Top 6 in the country. Tough opening schedule. But the loss to Penn St. is always ignominious and Oklahoma State embarrassed them last week. Oh yeah, and they have a full-blown Quarterback controversy.

But Tech has its own demons that they are trying to shake. And like most ghosts from your past, the best way to get over it is to move on. The cancelling of the UCF game, while entirely understandable, affected GT negatively. They’ve never really had a chance to move on from the first game.
The Pitt game offers just that. A solid conference win over a team that is limping in is what good teams go get. An ACC win, and the (1-0) record that win affords, would turn the page.
Prediction: I like Pitt Head Coach Pat Narduzzi. I actually like Pittsburgh as a school. But that team has issues, and Georgia Tech is rested and looking for damage. If Georgia Tech can fix the turnover woes of late, they should roll in this game, causing major agita at the Thirsty Scholar.
