Atlanta Falcons: Week Three Preview and Prediction
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Falcons will face a tough road test in week three against the Detroit Lions. The Lions and Falcons are both 2-0 and have looked solid in the early going. Which team will move to 3-0 on the season?
The Atlanta Falcons looked a little rusty in week one against the Chicago Bears coming one goal line stand away from losing. Last week they put any concerns to rest with what amounted to a home blowout against the Packers though it didn’t come without a cost with the Falcons losing Vic Beasley for at least a month.
Pass rushing Matthew Stafford outside of scoring obviously, is going to be the most important key to this game and being without their best pass rusher is going to hurt them. The Falcons are fast on defense and will likely bring a new variety of blitzes in week three without Beasley.
Still even if the pass rush works Stafford is playing at a high level for the last two years and is going to put up some points on this Falcon’s defense. That is no knock against a very fast and talented Falcon’s defense but a compliment to the Lion’s under-rated offensive attack.
This game is going to be a shoot-out that is going to come down to which defense do you trust the most to get a stop? Looking at the defensive rosters it is easy to see that the Falcons have the most defensive talent and will find a way to win this one with a key stop in the middle of a shoot-out between two top franchise quarterbacks.
