The Atlanta Hawks have started what is going to be a long rebuilding process.  The Rebuild started this off-season and will continue for at least another season. But in a weak East the rebuild may not be all that painful.

The Atlanta Hawks are going to have to be a scrappy team this season as they focus on gathering young players and draft picks in the middle of a rebuild. While the rebuild will likely keep the Hawks out of the playoffs in a weak East they will likely still be a competitive team.

That is not to say that they will make the playoffs but barring key injuries the Hawk’s roster has enough talent to remain in a race for the 8th spot in the Eastern conference for most of the season.

Point guard Dennis Schroder is likely to take a step forward and continue his growth along with rookie John Collins and  young  forward Taurean Prince. Those three players along will give Hawk’s fans a reason to watch.

Add in a talented veteran bench and this team could surprise to some extent this season thanks to a historically weak Eastern conference.

The Hawks are going to have to rely on playing strong defense to keep them in games. Defense is played at an alarmingly little rate in today’s NBA the fact that the Hawks focus on their defense more than many other teams in the League will give them a slight edge coming back down the court.
