The Atlanta Falcons are taking a lot of heat for blowing a 17 point lead to the Dolphins this past weekend. While the heat is deserved to some extent there is an overreaction to the Falcons struggles against the Dolphins.

The Atlanta Falcons are free falling in rankings and many fans are overreacting to what was an ugly loss to the Dolphins. There is no defense for the Falcons in a game that they should have won, and failed to make the plays in the second half after being up seventeen.

While the game may have been ugly and the loss a painful reminder of the Super Bowl collapse there is an overreaction to the loss this early in the season. This is the same team that last season had three losses in their first seven games.

The 4-3 start included two losses to teams that wouldn’t make the playoffs. Yes, the way that this game was lost was different in the fact it could have easily been a Falcon’s win but the result is the same regardless of how the Falcons got there.

As they head into a revenge game with the Patriots the Falcons are sitting where they thrived best last season being underrated. They are going to have to get right offensively and Matt Ryan is going to have to stop forcing throws and turning the ball over.

Ryan is a veteran who has had stretches like these before and will get himself and his team right and the Falcons are still a very good team that is headed back to the playoffs. The Miami loss was one that should not have happened, it did and now the Falcons will move on and prove why they are still one of the most talented rosters in the NFL.

The only concerning factor of the Falcon’s season has been the fact that they seem to be playing at the competition’s level and not to their talent level. Coach Quinn along with Matt Ryan will get it right and turn this season back in the right direction and that will start Sunday night in New England.
