Atlanta Falcons: Bring Back Sean Weatherspoon
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Falcons are short at linebacker with the injury to Duke Riley and brought in Sean Weatherspoon to help provide depth. The move to sign Weatherspoon was a good one that could provide surprising value.
The Atlanta Falcons are sitting at 3-3 on the season and have already dealt with a lot of injuries. Duke Riley going down on defense and possibly for the season was a big hit that the Falcons didn’t wait to address.
Sean Weatherspoon was signed to the team and will help fill the role that Riley had on the team. Weatherspoon has spent the majority of his career with the Falcons and knows the system already. Bringing in Weatherspoon was a good move for the Falcons that will make their defense better.
If Weatherspoon can stay healthy he will provide a lot of value on defense for the Falcons. He is an above average linebacker that is going to provide some stability to a young Falcon’s defense and will offer some leadership as well to a young team.
Bringing in Weatherspoon makes an improving defense even better. The loss of Riley hurts but Riley has yet to play to his full potential and his loss will not change the skill or ability of the Falcons to play defense.
The Falcons next challenge after getting dismantled by the Patriots will be to head to New York to take on the Jets. What once looked like an easy win for one of the better teams in the NFC is likely a statement game for a struggling Falcon’s offense.
