4. Alex Cobb

Alex Cobb is a very interesting name to watch on the free agent market this season. Cobb is the definition of a player who isn’t flashy yet gets the job done. Cobb had another very productive season in Tampa eating innings and keeping teams in games.

Cobb had a 3.66 ERA and posting a 12-10 record a very productive season for a veteran that has struggled with injuries. Cobb has had more than one good season with the Rays and will fly under the radar on the starting pitching free agent market.

If the Braves do opt to avoid going after one of the top pitchers on the market guys like Cobb are the answer.

Pitching in one of the toughest hitting divisions in baseball Cobb put together a very solid season and likely is in the middle of his prime as a starter. Adding Cobb to the rotation would be a great addition for the Braves that would help provide some consistency without blocking young arms long term.

The problem for the Braves will be how much money Cobb is likely asking and if another team desperate for pitching is willing to give it to him. The Braves best option is to target Cobb before the top pitching options are signed and teams begin to get a bit more desperate.
