4. Another Chance at an Ace

If the Atlanta Braves were to whiff on Chris Archer there is a very good second option likely sitting on the trade market in Gerrit Cole. Once a valued franchise player the Pirates now seem to be intent on dealing Cole at some point in the near future.

Adding Cole should be a second priority to Archer but if the Braves were to fail to acquire Archer Cole is a great option that would again slot at the top of the Braves rotation. The problem for the Braves is again if they are willing to spend the prospects to get a deal like this done.

The Pirates are likely going to be going down the same path the Braves have over the last few years rebuilding and sending their best players packing for the best price they can receive.

Cole is a heat throwing ace of a pitcher who has not pitched to his potential. It is again an interesting chance that the Braves could look to pair Julio Teheran with a prospect and add a true ace to the top of their rotation.

The only problem with any such deal is that it will leave the Braves with an improvement at the top of the rotation but still with many holes to fill in the rotation.
