Atlanta Falcons Facing Another Must Win Game
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Falcons have backed themselves into another must-win game after losing Sunday and failing to make it in the endzone. The Saints are leading the division and a loss would mean the Falcons would likely have to run the table to make the playoffs.
Facing a must win game isn’t new for the Atlanta Falcons considering that they have already faced two must-win games this season and pulled them out. After falling to the Vikings the Falcons are in a must-win situation yet again.
Going into Thursday the Falcons sit at 7-5 with the toughest remaining schedule including two against the division leading Saints. Beating the Saints on Thursday will give the Falcons a mulligan and mean they will only have to finish 2-1 down the stretch to almost certainly make the playoffs.
Thursday night against the Saints the Falcons are going to have to pull out all the stops to take down a resurgent New Orleans Saints team. A Saints team that no one saw coming especially after a rough 0-2 start to the season.
Drew Brees and the offense is now a ground attack that can still get it done through the air as well. The Falcon’s focus will be to stop the run first and the pass second.
This season has been an up and down year for the Atlanta offense but against the Saints over performing defense it would not be at all surprising to see the Falcons put up 30+ points in this game.
Julio Jones will again have a favorable match-up this week with no true shutdown corner on the Saints Jones could look to have another huge day if the Falcons feed Julio.
No question, Thursday’s game is the biggest game of the season as of yet a game that will decide the Falcon’s division fate and their playoff chances.
