With the trade deadline closing in Atlanta Hawks veteran Kent Bazemore has his name swirling in the trade rumors. The Cleveland Cavs are reportedly interested in Baze who would improve their defense and provide another three point threat.
The Atlanta Hawks are in the midst of a rebuild and will be shopping any and all veterans at the trade deadline. That seems to mean Kent Bazemore as well who is owed a lot on a team that is not competing anytime soon.
Dealing Bazemore would make sense for the Hawks but be a painful shot to fans considering that Baze is a fan favorite. For a base that is already struggling in a rebuild the Hawks would have to be braced for backlash that will come quickly from the fans.
With that said it is the right move to make for a team that is not going to compete for some time. If the Hawks can deal Bazemore for a return and give him a chance to win now that is a win for both sides and would help the Hawks continue to move in the right direction.
Bazemore has been a part of the Hawks’ bench and starting lineup for the last few years and has become known for the defense he brings and the energy that he shows on the court.
The Hawks need to deal every veteran that they can as the trade deadline approaches to both cut salary and collect picks to help accelerate the rebuild. More to come.
