The Atlanta Braves are slowly putting together a roster that is set to take another step forward in 2018 and begin to compete again. After three seasons of ugly baseball could this finally be the season the Braves become contenders again?

Watching the Atlanta Braves over the last three years has been anything but fun. Sure, there have been great moments of young players starting to put it together or Freddie Freeman doing Freddie Freeman like things but losing wiped all that away.

Losing has become the new Braves way, blowing leads early and late and collapsing in true Atlanta style often. Despite the exciting up-and-coming talent the Braves didn’t have enough of a supporting cast to close out wins .

That could change this season with Ronald Acuna taking over for Matt Kemp in the outfield and the team getting set to allow Ozzie Albies to start the season at second base. Add in a revamped pitching staff and a better season from Julio Teheran the Braves could be set to take a big step forward this season.

2018 is a year that the Braves will again be competing. Not competing for a postseason spot down the stretch unless huge roster changes are made but a team that is going to turn the page on the rebuild and learn how to win.

Winning is not only an action it is a culture and an attitude that is palpable with an entire clubhouse. It is something that only veterans Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis know how to do.
