The Atlanta Braves could have a 2018 MVP on their hands in Freddie Freeman. Before his injury shortened his 2017 season and weakened his power for the remainder of the season Freeman was on a torrid MVP pace.

Freddie Freeman is the face of the Atlanta Braves and has been since Chipper Jones decided to hang it up. While Freeman may not be the player that Chipper was he is still one of the best in the League and could be set for an MVP caliber season.

Looking at Freeman’s numbers before the ill fated pitch that took away a lot of his season Freeman was on a torrid pace a pace that would have garnered a lot of MVP consideration. While he is a year older Freeman is still in the prime of his career and should be set up for another good season if he can stay healthy.

If he stays healthy to take it a step further Freddie Freeman will be an MVP option considering how pure hitter that he is and the new hitter friendly nature of the Braves home park that will buffer his homer totals.

Freeman finished his season last year with 28 homers and over 70 runs batted in hitting over .300 and carrying a lot of the offense when he was healthy.

Despite being on a bad team Freeman is going to have his best season this year surrounded by young up-and-coming players and with Ender Inciarte at the top of the lineup getting on base consistently in front of him.

Because of that Freeman will be in the MVP race this year and is set to have his best season yet.  The Braves will report for spring training next month.
