With the trade deadline approaching for the Atlanta Hawks this afternoon the Hawks have made it known they will trade any player from their roster. The idea that the Hawks are open to trading all their players is surprising.

The Atlanta Hawks are shopping all of their veteran players and reportedly are open to trading their young players as well. While this isn’t surprising for guys like Kent Bazemore hearing Taurean Prince in the trade rumors is shocking.

Not only are the Hawks open to trading Prince they are open to dealing any single player from their roster. The fact the Hawks are open to trading their young players spells an even longer rebuild than fans were expecting.

Trading veteran players is the right move to make for the Atlanta Hawks. Trading their young and improving players isn’t unless they receive equal talent in return. Draft picks may be coveted but they rarely turn out as well as expected.

Draft picks would be great to receive in exchange for veteran players but for young players who are still improving it would make little sense.

The only applicable contract would be Kent Bazemore’s. Dealing Baze for a pick and getting out from under his contract wouldn’t be a bad move considering Bazemore is a finished product.

With a little under five hours until the trade deadline the Hawks are likely to make more than one trade and continue to collect draft picks headed into the draft. Atlanta Hawks fans are set for what could be a rough deadline that brings back the idea of tanking in 2018.
