The Atlanta Hawks made two moves before the trade deadline on Thursday including dealing forward Luke Babbitt to the Miami Heat. The Hawks received Okaro White who they will allow to hit waivers and become a free agent.

The Atlanta Hawks trade deadline was surprisingly quiet after chatter had surrounded almost every player on the roster. Dealing only Luke Babbitt from the roster was surprising and will allow the Hawks to keep playing tough the rest of the season.

Losing Luke Babbitt to the Heat hurts, but it is a deal that makes sense for both sides and allows Babbitt a chance with a contending team.

White meanwhile will never play a game in a Hawk’s uniform after being waived and is set to become a free agent if he clears waivers.

The deal made sense for Miami who is in need of a three point threat and more help from the bench. They brought back veteran Dwayne Wade as well who will rejoin the Heat and likely retire in Miami.

Wade has long been one of the good guys in the League sending him and Babbitt to the Heat gives them a legitimate chance to advance in the playoffs and gives much needed bench depth.

For the Hawks a quiet deadline was surprising and while Luke Babbitt’s shooting will be missed it hardly hurts a rebuilding team that is already limping into the All-star break.

Luke Babbitt didn’t spend much time in a Hawk’s uniform but what time he did he always played hard and Hawk’s fans will wish him nothing but the best as he heads to Miami.
