The Atlanta Falcons could find a perfect quarterback fit for their team in the draft in prospect Mason Rudolph. Drafting Rudolph in the second round would be a gamble worth taking and allow the Falcons to fill a need with their first pick.

Mason Rudolph would fit the Atlanta Falcons need of a quarterback behind Matt Ryan perfectly. Drafting him in the second round would be a bit of an early grab and allow the Falcons a definite shot of getting Rudolph and cementing the backup quarterback spot.

Rudolph is coming off of a season that raised some concerns about his accuracy and ability to throw in tight windows. The majority of the concern comes from the fact he spent much of the last year throwing to wide open targets.

Leaving many scouts all over the map on what Rudolph’s value and projections actually are. If you take the time to study the film for yourself you will like what you see.

An aggressive young quarterback with a good arm and a toughness and ability to compete that cannot be taught. The one downside for Rudolph is that his deep throws need work and improvement. Time working with a good quarterbacks coach and proper conditioning will improve.

The Falcons are going into this season hoping to resign Matt Ryan but even if they do extend their franchise quarterback having a backup plan couldn’t hurt and drafting Rudolph would be a great move for the Falcons.

As to the plausibility? It is very doubtful that the Falcons are going to spend a draft pick on a quarterback even though they should. With Matt Schaub as the current backup it is unknown if the Falcons will be willing to change it up.

Whoever chooses to draft Mason Rudolph will be in for a surprise after he develops and turns into a solid NFL quarterback.  If the Falcons are paying attention they should draft Mason Rudolph if he is still on the board in the second round.

Rudolph finished the season for Oklahoma State with 65 percent of his passes complete for  4,904 yards and 37 touchdowns and 9 picks.  The NFL combine could do a lot to change Rudolph’s draft stock and take him out of consideration for the Falcons in the second round.
