  1. How much if any has Sean Newcomb’s control improved?

Sean Newcomb most certainly is headed into game action with the inside track to a rotation spot. After spending the latter part of last season in the rotation. Newcomb has electric stuff and the ability to develop into the Braves best pitcher.

The problem for Newcomb was control and at times his poise on the mound. While it is expected for him to be a bit rusty in his first two or three appearances watching his control during the middle and towards the end of spring training will be a huge factor.

If his control is unimproved it will hurt his chances at a roster spot as well as pointing to a failure to further develop.

Sean Newcomb is an exciting pitcher to watch, one that the Braves are counting on to take a step forward this season. Relying on velocity paired with his breaking pitches Newcomb has to be able to command more than his fastball now that teams have plenty of tape to watch of the young hurler.

If he can prove his control is trending in the right direction he will begin the season as a member of the Braves’ rotation.
