Atlanta Braves: What to Look For in Spring Training
By Kit Anderson
- Pitching Battles in the rotation and the bullpen
To say that there are spots to be won on the Braves roster early this year would be a vast understatement. With at least three rotation spots up for grabs and an unknown number of spots in the bullpen watching the Braves young pitcher’s ability to compete will be a huge draw.
With the news that bullpen spots will be filled by young pitchers who fail to make the rotation and not expensive free agents this Spring just became much more entertaining.
The pitching wealth that the Braves have spent nearly three years acquiring will be on full display and competing against each other with a reason to play in games that otherwise are meaningless.
With a full month to impress and make the roster, keeping track of who has the best chance at roster spots will be enough to make even casual Braves fans interested and excited as the season begins.
The biggest holes and questions on the Braves roster is the fact that they have little proven pitching. If one or two of the Braves wealth of arms begins to step up in Spring Training the Braves could look to become contenders again.
