Dwight Howard is one of the most confusing and inconsistent players in the NBA. Built like a tank and with the most pure talent of almost any center in the NBA why Howard struggles is best shown in the recent comments from his former Hawk’s team.

Dwight Howard has bounced around the League since his early breakout stardom with the Orlando Magic. Since then it has been nothing but trouble and less than kind words from teammates that have followed Howard.

If you followed the Hawks last season you know the poor performance that Howard had in the playoffs and poor attitude that he carried with it. It was indicative of the season, a season that saw Howard give his full effort at times and forgo trying at others.

Dennis Schroder the Hawk’s point guard articulated just that after Howard’s latest great performance against the rebuilding Hawks.  He had the following to say about Howard:

"“He plays always great against his former team. Credit to him too, but that’s like four games each year, you know? Houston, LA, us. I think he’s always giving his best there but the others games he (shrugs).”"

The Hawk’s point man raises a good point on Dwight Howard one that has been brought up or hinted at by all of Dwight’s former teams. The shots didn’t stop there however, with Hawk’s announcer Bob Rathbun taking a shot at Dwight’s effort in the playoff series against Washington last season.

While a bit of this can be shrugged off as sour from a losing team in the bottom of the League there is a lot of validity to it as well.

Dwight Howard remains one of the NBA’s most frustrating players. One who seems content with being a star one night and playing like a scrub the next.

As long as Dwight Howard remains in the League comments or shots rather, like these will continue. Dwight Howard is who he always has been an great athlete and a frustrating teammate.
