Atlanta Braves: The Song That Has Been Sung
By W. M. Lawson
The Atlanta Braves lost with controversy and in extra innings. That song you’re hearing , though, isn’t one of defeat.
There is a song that begins with the lyrics, “I know it’s hot, I know we’ve got, something that money can’t buy”. I shouldn’t know that. It’s kind of embarrassing. But most things confession are. Another confession is that I didn’t watch the game. I was with a lady at a new place. That took precedence. Yet, here we are. That game, and that song, are one. The Atlanta Braves lost tonight.
But, what does it mean? What does it mean when we, and yes, we, lose in dramatic and controversial fashion, after winning the same way just yesterday?

It means that we’re there. Meaning, that the Atlanta Braves are there. The Philadelphia Phillies are the “up and coming” team. They are the sweet pick for all of the hip writers. And maybe those folks are prescient. My guess? Probably not.
My take is that our Atlanta Braves, who everyone is still “thumbing noses” at, just found a way to win one, lose one, and then we get to play a 3rd.
My guess is that this team gets mad. If Brian Snitker is a “Big League” Manager, this is where he will prove himself.
It’s a long season. We all know that. Still, there are moments where a team, and its coaches, define themselves. Each other. Who they are going to be. Who they want to be.
Day three is upon us. And it’s not even hot yet.
