The Falcons struggled to find a third option in the passing game last year, do they need to draft someone early to make an impact for the team?

To say the Atlanta Falcons depth chart at wide receiver is top-heavy would be an understatement, especially considering the team only has four listed on their current roster.

Julio Jones is arguably one of if not the best receiver in the NFL, while Mohamed Sanu is a solid No. 2 option.

The third receiver on the roster is Justin Hardy, who was spectacular in college, but has struggled to make an impact on the professional level.

If the Falcons want to compete for a Super Bowl, they need to find a more productive option for Matt Ryan.

One option the Falcons could look into is Jordan Matthews, who remains available after struggling with injuries while in Buffalo.

Although he isn’t going to be a No. 1 option, he could be a good safety valve for the team and could be a cheap option.

The best long-term option for the team though could be looking into taking a receiver early in the 2018 Draft.

Although the draft class doesn’t carry a franchise-changing playmaker, there are several intriguing options that should be available early.

The best option is taking Calvin Ridley, but he likely won’t be available for the Falcons.

If Ridley isn’t available, the team would be wise to invest in players such as Christian Kirk or DaeSean Hamilton.

Both players should be able to fit into the Falcon’s system quickly and provide another useful weapon for Ryan. A badly needed weapon for a at times struggling Falcon offense.

They would also provide a long-term option to develop as Jones and Sanu start to get older.

Whatever route the Falcons take, it would be wise to add as many offensive play-makers as possible to remain contenders.
