Who should the Atlanta Falcons look at in the first round?

Tonight marks the start of the 2018 NFL Draft, and the Atlanta Falcons enter with 7 picks.

We’ll look through three possible options for each one of their picks, based on need, fit, and the likelihood they’ll be available. The Falcons first pick is the 26th overall pick, and I expect them to go after two key positions.

The first would be defensive tackle, where their two best options are likely Taven Bryan and Da’Ron Payne. Both players have been linked to the Falcons and for good reason.

After losing Dontari Poe to free agency, the Falcons need to make sure they draft someone who can pressure the quarterback and stop the run.

Even though the Falcons have typically taken the Best Player Available “BPA” route in recent drafts, either of these picks would fill a need while also not being seen as a reach.

The third option for the Falcons would be taking a guard, and the most likely target seems to be Will Hernandez.

Hernandez is a powerful run blocker and would help open up holes for Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. All three of these players would be great options for the Falcons, and would likely become starters by the time the season started.
