Will the Falcons be able to find a starter in the third round?

The Falcons third-round pick is 90th overall, and this is where the team will likely look for depth options. If the team wasn’t able to get a defensive tackle earlier, look for them to target former Virginia Tech player Tim Settle.

Settle is quick on his feet and quite athletic for a defensive lineman. The only issue at VT seemed to be his weight, as he struggled with conditioning throughout his time as a Hokie.

If he were able to keep that issue under control, he’d likely be a great value pick for the Falcons in the third. A value pick that the Falcons could look at even if they have already addressed the position.

Another option for the Falcons is actually another Hokie, safety Terrell Edmunds. Edmunds is, unfortunately, being overshadowed by his brother, Tremaine, but both are great prospects.

Terrell is a physical safety who seems to love playing in man coverage. He has also great movement and uses quick feet to make big plays in the secondary.

Although the secondary is one of the Falcons strengths, adding another playmaker is always a great choice considering how often teams are passing the ball these days.

Wide receiver and tight end have been mentioned above, but the Falcons last option in the third round might end up being a running back.

I wrote about Tevin Coleman’s likely departure after this season, so the Falcons might want to invest in his replacement now.

One option for the team could be Nyheim Hines out of North Carolina State. Hines biggest knock seems to be his size, and he measured around 5’8” at the combine.

As the old joke goes, size doesn’t always matter, and Hines is the definition of an explosive playmaker.

He would be a great fit as the third running back this season, and they could slide him into the No. 2 role if Coleman does leave next offseason.

Hines is quick, versatile, and would be a great addition to a Falcons team that utilizes plenty of weapons.
