Three Options for Each of the Atlanta Falcons 2018 Draft Picks
If the Falcons go for a developmental prospect in round four, who are some of the guys they need to target?
The Falcons fourth-round pick might not end up being a starter, but the team can definitely still find a developmental prospect.
Dante Pettis isn’t a household name to most people on the East Coast, but he was a stud at Washington. Pettis will likely go on to end up as a slot receiver in the NFL, but he is a great route-runner.
He might struggle facing press defenses, but he has solid hands and will help erase the drop issues that the Falcons faced last year. He is also an outstanding punt returner and would provide a boost on special teams.
If the Falcons decided to ignore the combine and focus on tape only, Orlando Brown would be a solid pick for them. Brown was heavily criticized for his combine performance, as he struggled in almost every portion of testing.
Criticisms aside, he was a stud at Oklahoma and could be a solid backup for an NFL team. The third pick is purely speculation, but the Falcons might want to draft a quarterback.
Matt Schaub is the current backup, but he’s old, and now is the time to start developing his replacement. One option might be Mike White, out of Western Kentucky.
White isn’t viewed as one of the top quarterback prospects in the draft, but he could be a solid backup.
Quarterbacks are getting more expensive every year, so if the Falcons can develop him into a backup on his rookie contract, it’ll save money for other portions of the roster.
