2. Sean Newcomb Reminding Fans of His Potential

Sean Newcomb was surrounded by hope and excitement last season. The results were less than impressive, adding to Braves’ fans misery. His lack of confidence was obvious and he lacked mound presence.

This season from the start has been different. Even in the outings, he hasn’t had his best stuff he brings a confidence and presence he didn’t have last season.

His most recent outing saw him go seven strong innings in a great performance against the Mets. Newcomb is starting to show all the potential Braves’ fans were looking for last season. His brilliant outings feature him truly pitching instead of throwing.

For a player who is talented enough to often get away with simply “throwing” it is a huge step. Another storyline for the Braves not receiving its due attention.

Newcomb has top of the rotation potential and in a must-win game should be the Braves current go-to starter.

He has gone 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA striking out 42 in 34.2 innings. The kid is a stud, a stud who soon may find himself atop the Braves’ rotation.
