5. Mike Foltynewicz Has Been the Braves Most Consistent Pitcher

Again I have to raise my hand on this one. After three seasons of throwing and failing to live up to his velocity Foltynewicz is finally putting it together. He has been Mr. Consistent for the Braves in the early going.

He has been the most reliable of any starter. He has stayed healthy and pitched to a 2-1 record with a 2.53 ERA. Whether or not he can maintain the fast start is another discussion.

But he deserves credit for his early production and composure. Surrounded by young up-and-coming arms this year is truly a now or never situation for the righty.

His success is coming from the fact he isn’t trying to strike every hitter out. When he is in a jam he uses the strikeout at times, but not all the time.  He pitches for outs looking for contact a skill set he hasn’t shown in past seasons.

Folty is a big reason this team is rolling early.  Mike Folynewicz continuing to produce at this pace is doubtful. But with plenty of other young arms waiting in the wings, he may not have to. Be sure and leave a comment and let us know who you believe to be the biggest underrated contributors this season.
